Grape seed oil was once the well-kept secret of many traditional cosmetic repertoires. It’s an easily absorbed gentle oil that is light on the skin. Known in the cosmetics industry as a carrier oil, grape seed oil facilitates a wide array of commercially available creams and lotions. While you may have no qualms about paying for high-priced cosmetics, you could easily apply the lotion directly from the bottle to enjoy its soothing benefits. It’s terrific for breaking down and removing makeup as part of your cleansing routine. Grape seed oil is rich in vitamins and beta-carotene.
It’s no secret as to why cosmetic companies prefer to use grape seed oil as a base for their assorted creams, lotions, and ointments. In addition to an ideal viscosity, the oil is extremely rich in beta-carotene and vitamins D, C, E. It also happens to have a concentration of essential fatty acids like palmitic, stearic, and linoleic acid. These fatty acids have performed well in clinical anti-wrinkle trials. They have also proven to be effective at minimizing the prominence and size of scars. Grape seed oil also imparts a lovely glow to skin, and does not have a strong scent of its own, the oil molecules absorbs and extends the aroma of your perfume.
Sunflower oil is a natural and healthy way of maintaining a great skin, thanks to its calming and emollient (moisturizing) properties. Being rich in nutrients and antioxidants, it is widely used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes and is found to be effective against acne, eczema, inflammation, general redness and irritation of the skin. Some of the benefits of sunflower oil for skin are as follows.
Due to its emollient properties, sunflower oil helps the skin retain its moisture. Using sunflower oil as lotion on the skin of pre-term infants’ acts as a protective barrier and massaging them with this oil helps in reducing skin infection by nearly 14 percent. Sunflower oil can be used in their daily skincare.
Sunflower oil is extremely high in Vitamin E in comparison to other skincare products like almond oil or shea butter. Vitamin E is essential for preventing damage to skin cells by ultraviolet light or UVA from the sun. Vitamin E improves the appearance and health of your skin through prevention of scarring and smoothing of existing wrinkles. Naturally occurring Vitamin E in oils prevents them from going rancid or spoiling.
Sunflower oil is also rich in vitamins A, C and D and healthy carotenoids and waxes which form a protective barrier on the skin. Thus, this oil is effective in the treatment of acne. Being exceptionally light and non-greasy, it gets absorbed into the skin easily without clogging or blocking the pores. It’s range of vitamins and fatty acids act as antioxidants to regenerate skin cells and help the skin get rid of acne causing bacteria.
Beta-carotene is a richly pigmented fat-soluble compound that can be converted into Vitamin A and its antioxidant properties are beneficial for the appearance of your health and skin. Sunflower oil is an excellent source of beta-carotene. Consumption of this compound makes your skin less sensitive to the sun. The antioxidants in it neutralize the free radicals that penetrate your skin, causing sunburn and other types of sun damage such as skin cancer. The antioxidant properties of sunflower oil help in preventing premature signs of aging.
The occurrence of wrinkles and fine lines at an early age is caused by exposure to free radicals and sunlight which increases the rate of aging of the skin. The antioxidants in sunflower oil lower the risk of developing premature signs of aging.
Being naturally emollient, sunflower oil improves your skin’s moisture retention capacity and is beneficial for individuals with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. A mixture of sunflower and castor oil is effective in making your skin supple and removing dead cells and impurities. This mixture can be used as a cleanser and there is no need to use a moisturizer as the oils contain fatty acids and vitamins to moisturize your skin.
Sunflower seed oil is an oil of fine quality as it is light in texture and extremely suitable for eye and skin care. It is suitable for normal to dry skin and is increasingly used in aromatherapy because of its mild scent and light texture. It is used in skin products and creates a soft feel on the skin.
Just like skin, sunflower oil has a moisturizing effect on your hair as well. A wide array of nutrients and antioxidants together with essential fatty acids make it extremely beneficial for your hair. Due to its light texture and mild flavor, sunflower oil softens the hair and adds a delightful sheen to it. Sunflower seed oil helps to control frizz, tackles dryness and damage and makes you hair manageable. This versatile oil maintains your hair’s luster and texture and can be used as a natural conditioner. Sunflower oil can be applied and massaged on your scalp before a bath once a week for maximum benefits. Being extremely light, sunflower oil helps in conditioning greasy hair while it nourishes the hair and prevents breakage.
Sunflower oil is an important source of gamma alpha linolenic acid (GLA) which helps in preventing thinning of hair. It is effective in the treatment of hair-loss, baldness and alopecia areata, characterized by round patches of lost hair.
Sunflower seed oil is considered as one of the healthiest oils due to its variety of health enhancing nutrients. This oil is rich in vitamins E, B1, B5, B6 and C in addition to minerals like copper, phosphorus, zinc and magnesium. Folate, potassium, calcium, riboflavin, iron and niacin found in sunflower seed oil make it an extremely healthy choice with several health benefits.
Sweet almond oil is refined oil popular because of its therapeutic effect to the skin. Benefits of sweet almond oil primarily lie on its soothing and relaxing effect not only to the skin but also to the overall senses. That is why it is essentially used in aromatherapy and in massage therapy.
People who have been using sweet almond oil and have experienced the benefits of this oil can authenticate such claims. In detail, sweet almond oil benefits for the skin is it effectively delays aging; regular application nourishes the skin making it smooth and supple to touch; it helps lighten dark complexion making it glow and look healthy; it eradicates irritation, inflammation, and skin rashes; it helps in soothing itchiness and soreness in the skin area affected; it moisturizes deeper, curing chapped and dry lips in the process.
Organic safflower oil can be more budget-conscious than the pricey skin care products found at your local makeup counter. This essential fatty acid offers many skin benefits, specifically its ability to easily remove dirt and oil without drying out your skin and hair.
Sufferers of dry skin should take note. Safflower oil lubricates the skin, creating a barrier that prevents water from leaving your skin; thus locking in moisture for glowing skin. You would be surprised to find it in moisturizers, hair products and facial cleansers you use daily. The oil can soften dry areas, smooth rough patches, and even alleviate beauty woes, improving both the texture and tone of your skin. It can be used alone or can be added to other oils for a beauty boost.
While mineral oil and lanolin can irritate the skin, safflower oil is less aggravating to skin. It’s also one of the best (and most inexpensive) sources of linoleic acid, which may be a secret weapon in preventing acne.
Some dermatologists are skeptical of natural oils, but beauty review boards believe safflower oil to be a safe ingredient. Acne sufferers are often discouraged from using products that clog the pores and increase the risk of acne lesions, but safflower oil may actually be beneficial for acne-prone skin.
However, you should still exercise caution using safflower oil if you have existing skin conditions. If you want to try natural oils, consult a dermatologist. He or she can help you understand your skin and hair types, which will help you identify which oils will work better for you. Using products with the aggravating ingredients, even in minuscule amounts, might cause problems to act up. Because safflower oil is known for its moisturizing abilities, it is a good choice for people with normal to dry skin.
For your diet, safflower oil can benefit your skin there too, so keep checking out those ingredients. A 2007 study showed that diets high in linoleic acid and vitamin C improved the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin of middle-aged and older women. If you use safflower oil in your food preparation, be sure to complement it with items rich in vitamin B complex (leafy green vegetables, nuts, and whole grains), which aid in absorption of this powerhouse oil.
Jojoba oil is extracted from seeds of the jojoba plant, scientifically known as Simmondsia chinensis, which are indigenous to southern United States and northern Mexico. The pure version of the jojoba oil has a bright, golden color whereas the processed version is clear and transparent. Body Tonique Skin Care uses ONLY pure certified organic Golden Jojoba Oil in our products! It has a high shelf life and can be stored for long periods as it is a relatively stable liquid. It does not oxidize easily and will not turn rancid compared to other oils because it does not contain triglycerides, unlike most other vegetable oils such as grape seed oil and coconut oil.
Jojoba oil is rarely sold in pure form. The total area planted with jojoba plants in the United States is about 45,000 acres and it takes three years for the seed to grow into a plant. Ninety-five percent of them end up in personal care or health products, blended with other ingredients. The main bulk of the oil is farmed in Israel and Argentina and exported.
In the 1960s, the sperm whale was becoming an endangered species because they were being hunted for their oil, which is comprised of ninety percent wax esters. Back then, they were widely used in thousands of health and cosmetic products. When importing whale oils into the United States was outlawed in 1971, jojoba oil was discovered. It was found jojoba oil is far superior to whale oils, also known as squalene, in many ways and is more beneficial to human health. Today, it is prominent in a wide variety of products.
What makes it so unique compared to other seed oils is that jojoba oil is structurally and chemically very similar to the human sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in our skin because sebum is also largely comprised of wax mono esters. In most cases, it can act as a substitute, while giving similar or added benefits compared to sebum.
Jojoba oil is non-toxic, non-comedogenic and non-allergenic. This means that it will not clog pores and will not cause any allergic reactions. It is also not an irritant, so it can safely be used around the eyes and on the skin. In addition to that, it does not cause a greasy feeling when used on the skin like other oils do. It contains many different varieties of tocopherols which make up Vitamin E and many other natural minerals. Vitamin E is well-known for promoting healthy and clear skin. Jojoba oil is an antioxidant and protects you from the damaging effects of free radicals, which is believed to contribute or cause various chronic diseases like cancer.
Most bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and the fungus Candida albicans cannot reproduce and die when they come into contact with jojoba oil. In fact, it is so antibacterial that it can be used as a fungicide to control mildew that is how powerful it is.
Does your face feel flaky, tight, and itchy? Then like so many others, you have the dry skin. At the root of dry skin is the loss of balance in the skins production of natural oils and water, which together form a barrier to protect your skin and retain moisture. The severity of dry skin is often increased by a variety of variables such as cold weather, poor nutrition and hydration, and age–just to name a few. With a little diligence and the right treatment, and our simple method of refresh, repair, replenish, your dry skin issues can finally be resolved!
Body Tonique’s Repair & Replenish will refresh your skin properly without stripping moisture.
First, I recommend washing your face with our Body Tonique Luxuriant Foaming Cleanser and rinsing with lukewarm water (do not use hot water it can actually encourage evaporation of water from the skin barrier); then lightly towel dry with a soft washcloth to preserve the moisture on your skin.
Exfoliation/sloughing off dead skin cells is important to look refreshed but avoid rough scrubs that can further deplete sebum. To do this follow this simply recipe of 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon of Grape Seed oil which will remove dead skin giving you a radiant, glowing complexion, slowly massage your face in small, circular motions. Rinse the scrub using tepid water and then, using Body Tonique Classic spritz lightly and allow to dry.
Keeping your skin moisturized is the first step in keeping it soft and smooth. Skin hydration and relaxation are essential to healthy skin. Staying hydrated is perhaps our best defense against poor skin health and wrinkles and helps to maintain skin flexibility and firmness.
Hand crafted from pure organic aloe vera, organic jojoba seed oil with a proprietary blend of organic skin nourishing plant extracts; including chamomile roman, meadow foam seed oil, rose hip oil, ylang, ylang and lavender and others. Lavender has a relaxing herbaceous aroma that is sweetly floral. It is regarded as a very useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. Lavender is one of the few oils that can be used safely on children and is most commonly associated with burns and the healing of the skin. The aroma of lavender has a calming effect on the body and mind and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep. Ylang Ylang has a sweet, exotic floral aroma and is one of the most sought after fragrances in the world. These wonderful components are combined giving back skin’s youthful elasticity and refine the texture of your skin.
Let’s not forget the eye area; it’s vital to maintain the moisture here because the skin is thin, delicate and susceptible to damage. The richness in Miracle Crème will help fill in fine lines, restore moisture and suppleness to the eye area, dab a little on gently with your finger twice a day.
After taking the above advice and diligently following the suggested regimen to improve your dry skin, results will be seen in about six weeks. While products usually resolve these issues, they cannot solve the entirety of skin problems. Along with this regimen eating a vitamin rich diet, along with drinking the recommended amounts of water a day and to minimize and prevent future damage, always protect your skin using an SPF sunscreen if you must be exposed to the strongest sunshine.
Body Tonique Skin Care Products are the very best you can use to give your skin that extra little nudge formulated with all natural, chemical free ingredients to soothe and refine the skin.
